The consistent scarcity in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in a sense quite uncertain, in one way or another.

In years gone by, the country was a region where many South Africans would go to to escape from the considerably prohibitive standards on gambling (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. Thus, you might bank on somewhat of a developing industry to satisfy that tourist industry.

However, maybe it is not all that much of an astonishment. The region is evidently the most destitute worldwide, having gone through a frightening civil war (followed by destructive floods) from which it is still, very slowly, bouncing back. This could make a place much less of a travel location, as much as there is now a favorable setting along several of the city’s outstanding beaches.

It is added to that confirmed that regionally at the very least, casinos in Mozambique have had to partake with others in the lately liberalized South Africa, consisting of the recognized Sun City founded by the Kerzner family management.

Here’s a list of Mozambique’s casinos:

Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel

There are seventy eight slot machines as well as video poker games, 5 tables of American roulette, four blackjack tables, along with a poker table.

Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino

There are 40 slot machines, American roulette, as well as 2 tables for poker and punto banco.

It is thought that over time the whole tourism industry in Mozambique will expand greatly. While the local languages are, of course, African, there is added to that the balance of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the fresh and growing awakening of English, both from South Africa and as part of the worldly phenomenon. The country is quite cheap (evidently, as it is so poor) and as above, has some of the most attractive beaches worldwide, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the types of elements that make tourism agents drool, and as the country elevates out of its present slump, it is likely that not only will tourism boost, but that the list of Mozambique’s casinos will grow longer too.

While the country is unlikely to ever recapture its disposition as a destination for partying South Africans, as there are now other options closer to home for them to relish in, the expansion of a long distance tourism industry is being arranged. This would be to serve Europeans looking for winter sun, as a retreat from the blues of the Northern Hemisphere winter. And, evidently, the best prawns (shrimp) around the world derive from just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
